BCA Pardons Goose in Brandermill Thanksgiving Tradition

In an annual tradition that dates back to the founding of the neighborhood, the Brandermill Community Association will pardon a reservoir goose on Thanksgiving Day.

This year’s pardoned bird is a Canada Goose named 'Bruce de Goose,' known as Goose 5934 by the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources.

“Though this goose is in violation of several neighborhood covenants, including failure to display a Brandermill resident hangtag in the Commodore Point parking lot, the Brandermill Community Association has seen fit to spare it from execution and allow it to live out its days in the watershed of the Swift Creek," read a statement from the BCA on Monday.

The Pardoning of the Goose Ceremony will take place on Thanksgiving Day at 10am at Sunday Park and will be live-streamed on the Brandermill Community Association Facebook page.
