Neighbor With Diesel Truck Announces Plans To Let It Idle For Next Two Hours

Brandermill resident and diesel enthusiast Chuck Clatter has announced plans to let his truck idle for the next two hours.

Chuck returned home from work and will soon be leaving to meet friends at Great American Ranch for wings. He has reported that he won’t be turning off his truck in the interim.

“It just doesn’t make sense to shut it off for such a short period of time,” said Clatter at a press conference he called at his Nuttree Woods residence on Monday. “Shutting off a diesel truck and restarting it causes more wear and tear on the engine than just letting it idle,” reported Clatter. “At least that’s what I read on Reddit.”

Clatter’s neighbors were surprised to hear that he was so concerned about the longevity of his truck’s engine. “I’ve only ever heard Chuck accelerate at full throttle. And he specifically told me he bought a lift kit and new rims rather than completing the factory scheduled maintenance on his truck.”

When asked why he purchased a Ford F-350 Super Duty rather than a more practical daily driver, Clatter couldn’t offer a convincing argument. “I mean, it’s handy to have four-wheel drive for the one or two days a year when we get a couple inches of snow in Richmond. And it’s nice to know I could tow basically anything. You know, if I had something to tow.” Clatter told reporters he might buy a boat someday.

Clatter’s neighbors have seen no evidence of the truck being used for its designed purpose. “I once saw a tree branch in the back of his truck, though later confirmed that the branch fell into his truck bed during a heavy windstorm,” one neighbor stated. “Chuck promptly removed the branch so as not to damage the finish.”

At press time, Clatter’s truck was still idling.
